Diggin for water in Oda

The missionary apartment in Oda has always had a water problem.  So the church wanted to have a well dug.   Three guys came in with a bucket, a short shovel and a short handled pick axe and started digging.   It is about 3 and one half feet in dia. and in three days they had it to about 25 feet deep.  The pile of dirt is out of the vacuum cleaner bag from the Elder's apartment when they found out we were coming to inspect their apartment.
Here you can see the guy in the bottom digging.   The rope with the knots and a bucket tied on it was the way to remove the dirt and measure the depth.   It was perfectly round and had steps in the sides which you can see if you look below the diggers foot.   His Levis needed to be washed after this job.
Sister Nielson was asking if she could be sent home if she fell in a well?    The pipe in the upper left corner of the picture is a system the Elders rigged up to collect rain water from the roof and dump it into their water tank.
On-lookers who didn't lift a finger to help, they just waited around for the water to start gushing out.   No water yet.
Elders Clark and Ridenour in Oda ordering up lunch from the local Wendys.   That's Wendy in the background.

I think thumbs up means "this is gonna be good".

It must have been good because they are still smiling.   The food here is very different and most of it is tasty, spicy and not very expensive.
